Mission of Walewale CIC

The people of the West Mamprusi District have always wondered when and how they would also fully become part of the much talk about global village affairs. As the only largest town in the District of about 12% homes and 132310 people, Walewale has always been considered the desired service centre for people in the entire length and breadth of the area.

Some initial efforts have been made by private individuals to set up communication facilities and eventually Internet facilities, but all to no fruitful ends. The conception of a one-step multi-purpose communication and information services centre where people can with comfort and convenience get what they desire is leap forward for the area.

The mission of Walewale CIC is to ensure that people of all walks of life within and around the community have full access to information/ contribute to the development of the community and its catchments areas. The CIC is also a vibrant and well resourced and informed centre that has deep stock of information necessary for properly serving the information needs of the people, support their livelihood activities, reduce poverty, promote gender integration and offer basic computer literacy training to all.

  1. Hi!

I have spent 8 weeks in Walewale, one year ago. I have visited the communication center frequently to communicate with my family back in the Netherlands. During my stay in Walewale I have lived with the family Aduah (Pastor Elijah, Paulina, head of the school next to the communication center and Kesia.)
I have done voluntary work in Maranatha's childrens orphanage. I found your blog on google, it is really nice! It looks like you have made a lot of progress.

I am wondering if pastor Elijah Aduah is taking computerlessons with you, and if he does, can you get him in contact with me? My e-mailadress is lil_3451@hotmail.com

If you see mrs. Paulina, pastor Elijah or Kesia, can you please tell them i miss them and that i miss the children and Mary too!?

    Thank you in advance,
    dear regards,
    Lilian van der Zwet
